Your clothes may be toxic.
What if the fabrics touching your skin every day are exposing you—and your children—to harmful chemicals you didn’t even know existed?
In this episode, Season Johnson sits down with Hannah Dunning, a clean clothing advocate and consultant, to unpack one of the most overlooked contributors to toxic load: what we wear.
Most families today are mindful about food, water, and skincare—but clothing is often the missing piece. And what makes this even more concerning is that the textile industry is largely unregulated, meaning there are no required disclosures for the chemicals used in fabrics.
Hannah shares how common materials—especially synthetic fabrics like polyester and nylon—can contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals that mimic estrogen in the body. These compounds can interfere with hormonal balance, contribute to inflammation, and potentially play a role in long-term health challenges.
But this conversation isn’t about fear—it’s about awareness and action.
You’ll learn where to start, what fabrics to prioritize, what certifications to look for, and how to make realistic changes without overwhelm. Because healing isn’t about perfection—it’s about making better choices, one step at a time.
Hannah Dunning, also known as the “Clean Clothing Chick,” is an advocate and educator focused on the impact of toxic chemicals in clothing. Her work is deeply personal—after losing her grandmother to estrogen-positive breast cancer and later being diagnosed with ICP (cholestasis of pregnancy), she began exploring how environmental toxins, including those found in textiles, may influence health.
Hannah educates consumers on safer clothing choices, consults with textile and fashion companies on transitioning to better materials, and collaborates with researchers and doctors to help close the gap in understanding how clothing impacts human health—especially for women and children.
