I know the fear and helplessness you're feeling—but I'm here to show you there's so much more you can do to help your child thrive. From one cancer parent to another: I'm here to show you your child can do more than just survive treatment.
I'm Season Johnson
This childhood cancer survivor story with Brady Lucas gave me so much hope, and I know it’s going to encourage so many of you, too.
As a cancer mom, there’s something incredibly powerful about hearing from someone who walked through childhood leukemia, relapse, and all the fear that comes with it — and is now healthy, thriving, and using his story to help other families.
Brady was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just 8 years old. After years of treatment, his cancer returned when he was 14, leading to a life-saving bone marrow transplant donated by his younger brother. In this conversation, he shares what it was like to face relapse as a teenager, the peace God gave him in the middle of it, and how his experience completely changed the way he looks at health and healing.
We talked about something I care deeply about: surviving cancer is not the finish line. Healing after treatment matters too.
Brady shares openly about the long-term effects survivors carry after treatment and why nutrition, movement, sleep, emotional healing, therapy, and community support became such important parts of his recovery journey. We also talk about prevention, environmental toxins, and the importance of creating healthier environments for future generations.
What I loved most about this conversation is Brady’s perspective on empowerment. Not guilt. Not fear. Empowerment. The reminder that while we can’t control everything, there are still so many ways we can support healing and create healthier lives moving forward.
This episode is honest, emotional, encouraging, and full of hope for anyone walking through cancer or life after it.
There is still joy.
There is still purpose.
There is still healing possible from here.
